Celebrating 50 Years of Guinness
The Diageo team at Runcorn wanted to celebrate 50 years of their Guinness packaging site with a limited edition, commemorative bottling, to gift to their employees and stakeholders. Although it was decided to use a bottle of whisky for longevity they wanted the label design to be quintessentially Guinness with the focus on Guinness' local history opposed to the well known Dublin association.
Deliverables: Packaging design
Client: Diageo, Runcorn
I reflected the iconic Guinness look and feel with a pint shaped label featuring the cream foam and ruby cloudiness as it settles. As well as the customisation of the typeface with the distinct slice through the letter N.
To bring the local history into the design, I recreated what the site would have looked like 50 years ago with a custom lino print style digital illustration inspired by original photographs. This features the recognisable Runcorn bridge, Guinness trucks that would transport the liquid from the docks to the site and the main building on the site.
